About The Role

We are searching for an enthusiastic Digital Editor to make an attractive web presence for our company.

As a Digital Editor, you will be responsible for implementing our content strategy across all properties and ensuring that all content on the websites adhere to our editorial standards. You will monitor articles coming out from all of our publications and make decisions about the arrangement of editorial content from the content editors, content writers, design staff, and freelance contributors. You will work closely with the VP of Content, Senior Editors and Director of Content Monetization to measure audience engagement and develop strategies to improve content performance.

The ideal candidate has exceptional knowledge of digital media and strong attention to detail. You are a digital native, so understanding our platforms, keeping up with market trends, and editing digital content will come naturally. You should be comfortable making ongoing, data-driven decisions on individual content placements and on content optimizations, including content, image, and headline adjustments. You must be able to sustain quality, engagement, and volume across our network and drive increased circulation and brand prominence.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with the team to ideate innovative content themes, set expectations, and report on outcomes
  • Provide task-focused feedback to internal team members and freelancers
  • Identify time-sensitive opportunities and ensure that the right content is featured at the right time
  • Inspect all content for alignment with editorial standards and brand strategy
  • Collaborate with the Art Director on a regular basis to elevate the look and feel of articles, sections, and home pages of all sites
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to content presentation
  • Observe and report on site traffic and audience trends
  • Track and implement the latest improvements in digital technology

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, media studies, or a related field
  • Some work experience as an editor, content manager, social media manager, or similar in a newsroom, digital publication, or content-focused website
  • Excellent understanding of the digital media landscape and trends and a brilliant portfolio of work
  • Outstanding and demonstrable writing skills, including flawless grammar and spelling
  • Ability to understand the digital consumer experience and the metrics that track their journey
  • Good project management skills
  • Strong independent working style
  • Ability to communicate clearly, work collaboratively and support other team members
  • Creative thinking with attention to detail

Staff Reporter

About The Role

MoneyWise.ca is a growing digital publication looking to expand our team with a standout personal finance reporter.

We need a determined and dependable journalist who can tackle complex information in a range of fields — including homebuying, loans, investing, employment and more — then distill that information into clear and engaging stories focused on the consumer’s bottom line.

Our ideal candidate is motivated, with a knack for discovering and highlighting interesting trends for our readers. Knowledge of one or more financial topics is an asset.

Since our readers trust our reporting to inform major financial decisions, accuracy and critical thinking are paramount. The personal finance reporter will be expected to scrutinize their sources, challenge assumptions and carefully weigh the impact of their insights.

The reporter will work directly with one or more editors, though an ideal candidate will be able to handle challenging subjects without heavy oversight.

We are growing quickly and looking to expand our editorial team with the addition of a creative and enthusiastic Copywriter. This role will involve working with clients to create engaging and well-researched sponsored content that rises to the same level of quality as our regular editorial stories, as well as the creation of compelling marketing copy in various media formats to drive conversions on a range of financial products and services. If you are innovative, energetic and imaginative, and if you love attracting people with your writing, we want you on our team!

Digital Marketing Intern

About The Role

We are looking for a talented and motivated marketing intern for our Toronto office. In this role, you will participate in marketing editorial content on digital advertising platforms such as Snapchat, Facebook, and Taboola.

This role is a paid, full time, fixed-term (May-August) and reports to the Marketing Manager. This is a great opportunity to gain experience and insight through hands-on work experience and training. There is the opportunity to join the team Full time in a digital marketing associate role at the end of the term/studies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Launching and managing ad campaigns across multiple digital advertising platforms.
  • Reviewing advertising performance data in real-time
  • Applying insights from analytics to improve advertising performance
  • Optimizing advertising bids and budgets to meet objectives
  • Reviewing performance data to propose new content and changes to existing content

Requirements

  • Expert communication skills in English
  • Beginner-level experience with photo manipulation (i.e. Pixlr, Canva, Photoshop, Gimp, etc.)
  • Beginner-level understanding of paid social media marketing
  • Demonstrable willingness to learn, collaborate and develop new skills
  • Prior social media marketing experience is considered an asset
