About The Role
Wise Publishing is a digital publisher and technology company — but we’re much more than that. We’re a group of talented, passionate people who believe online publishing tools should be more useful and productive, and that consumers deserve the best possible information to help them make smart choices and get ahead.
Our core product is Moneywise, our widely read, high-quality personal finance brand which serves the U.S. (Moneywise.com) and Canada (Moneywise.ca) and reaches over 10 million people each month. We also operate Half Banked (halfbanked.com), a personal finance podcast for a millennial audience with fans of all ages.
Our purpose is to empower everyone to live a richer life.
Wise Publishing is seeking a Product Analyst (or Business Analyst) to help make our website best in class.
Reporting to the Director of Product, the Product Analyst will be responsible for monitoring website performance and providing end-to-end support running controlled experiments (design, analysis, reporting) so we can stay ahead of our competition. You will build positive relationships with our internal stakeholders with a solutions-focused mindset. Through analysing data, you will start to build insights, presenting your findings to our team and influencing the future of our products.
You will achieve this by:
- obsessing about improvements to the Moneywise products
- documenting the needs of the product and readers, and
- reporting on performance.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, developers, and marketing teams to identify, analyze, and prioritize Moneywise product requirements, improvements, and opportunities for traffic and revenue growth.
- Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to monitor and analyze tools and page performance, user behavior, and engagement metrics.
- Use analytical tools such as Google Analytics (GA4) and access data through BigQuery or Snowflake to build and maintain Product tables that power, Quicksight, Looker, or Tableau dashboards to provide actionable insights and recommendations for product optimization and development.
- Develop a deep understanding of the multiple funnels users go through while using Moneywise products, and the various factors that impact them, being able to articulate changes in product that may improve conversion.
- Perform in-depth analysis of user feedback, usability testing, and customer satisfaction data to identify trends and areas for improvement in product features and user experience.
- Assist in the creation and execution of data-driven product strategies to improve customer acquisition, retention, and engagement.
- Design, execute, and analyze A/B tests using leading server-side technology (SiteSpect) to optimize user experience, product features, and drive business growth for millions of users.
- Communicate complex data findings, trends, and recommendations to both cross-functional teammates and SLT in a clear and concise manner.
- Participate in ad hoc analyses and special projects as needed.
Qualifications (Who you are):
- Obsessed with the user experience and an insatiable need to be part of a real product growth story.
- Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, statistics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in product analytics, preferably within the financial or digital media industry.
- Curious about how the financial world works, the stock market and its multiple asset classes, long and short term investment opportunities, how interest rates shakes up the game, key financial decisions that we all go through in life, etc.
- Proficient in data analysis and visualization tools such as Excel, Tableau, Looker, Quicksight or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of web analytics and experience working with tools such as Google Analytics.
- Experience with design of experiments and web-based AB testing tools, such as Optimizely, SiteSpect or Google Optimize (not for long).
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights to a variety of audiences.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Team player with a proactive attitude and a strong desire to learn and grow.
- Familiarity with product management methodologies, such as Agile, Scrum, or Lean, is a plus.
Extra skills that are great but not essential (you will learn with us!):
- You have a good understanding of statistics (probability, distributions, hypothesis testing).
- You’re proficient with Python, able to automate complex processes and construct robust data pipelines.
